This photo depicts a Black Knight Scabiosa (Scabiosa atropurpurea), grown on our heirloom seed farm. This photo is made of a stack of 58 macro images combined into one image of great detail. Looking carefully, one can see each stamen glowing with fine, almost microscopic grains of pollen. It is not long until one realizes that the larger flower seems to be made of many other “smaller flowers”, offering food for thought.

This piece is titled “Starry Knight” as a play on words. Set against the dark, black background, this Black Knight Scabiosa resembles a starry night up in the sky. As such, this photo connects Cosmos and Earth into one.
